Ustekinumab injection is used to treat moderate to severe plaque psoriasis (a skin disease in which red, scaly patches appear on certain parts of the body) in adults and children aged 6 and up who have not responded to medicines or phototherapy (a treatment that involves exposing the skin to ultraviolet light). It is also used alone as well in conjunction with methotrexate to cure psoriatic arthritis (a disorder that causes joint pain, swelling and scales on the skin) in adults. Adults with Crohn’s disease (a condition in which the body attacks the lining of the digestive tract, causing pain, diarrhoea, weight loss, and fever) are also treated with this medication.
